Teachers' Top Apps
Very soon we will be posting our teachers' top recommended apps for each primary. So if you have iPads at home keep an eye out for some really interesting apps that your kids are using in school that will help them at home too.
Presently
As of September 2014 Holy Cross Boys' boasts 384 iPads.
Primary 1 and Primary 7 pupils have a compliment of 1:1. every other class has at least 1:2 iPads per children. There are also iPad groups for SEN, Kindle Club, NCLB project and Breakfast club. Last year we were proud to share our expertise with many schools and organisations enquiring about iPads and flipped learning and also wanting to see them in use in classrooms. We are happy to share documents, policies and experience with you if you are interested. Please contact Mr McArevey the school principal if you would like to visit the school or avail of these documents. Phase 1The beginning of our iPad journey has been very exciting with a Primary 1 class and a Primary 7 class leaving a lot of green eyed pupils and teachers in holy cross boys'. 50 iPads in school has generated a lot of activity and hype around learning through a new interface. Extended schools has also joined the club by running an iPad club and by purchasing 6 iPads to run parent and child courses. Things on the iPad front are definitely heating up.
Phase 2 will hopefully see more children receiving iPads and the children who currently work with them becoming more independent and driven learners. Join the club!We are now currently running a parent iPad class due to parental demand. They have also been asking what apps we use in school with the boys so they can mirror and extend the learning happening in school at home. To this end I have posted on this page a composition of icons and names of the most used apps in school for KS1 and KS2 pupils. I hope you find this useful. A note has also been sent out with these details to all households.
