🌟 🎸 Grandparent’s Day Special! 🎸🌟

4th Feb 2025

P5W had a wonderful visit from a grandparent of one of the boys and an old HCB colleague, Gerry McCabe yesterday afternoon. He was unable to make our Grandparent’s Day last week and wanted to share something special with the class.

Gerry made his own guitar from scratch - yes, made! He very kindly talked the children through the process of making a guitar and all the components that it needs to make an effective sound.

He introduced the children to the Native American Flute and talked to them about how certain flutes are used to encourage reflection and deep thought and how others are used in happier, more joyful celebrations. They boys really loved hearing the music that the flute made and had lots of great questions.

We even got treated to a little sing-song at the end - worthy of a St Patrick’s day shindig!

Thank you so much to Gerry for his time - we really enjoyed it!
