Accelerated Reader 15 Million Word Challenge Accepted by the boys in P4-P7

11th Dec 2022

Last week a target of 15 million words was set for the P4-P7 boys, in the hope that this could be reached before the Christmas holidays. As of Friday 8th of December the boys had amassed 14,708,487 words read, so just under 300,000 words to go. In light of this fantastic effort we are setting a new target of 16 million words.
The challenge is still on to win the £20 by guessing the three digit lock code to open our safe box. Good news is it has to go this week so if your son is reading and quizzing this week, he has a great chance of winning the money.
Mr Connolly will be giving out certificates on Monday 12th December to those boys that have achieved personal word count targets. We will continue to do everything possible in school to develop a love of reading among the boys. All these incentives are nice to receive but the real prize for us would be for the boys to read for the love of it and not just to be rewarded. We hope you as parents/guardians will try to instil the same values at home.
