Attendance Alert for pupils under 85%

11th Mar 2025

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

As you know, in Holy Cross Boys’ PS we make a huge effort each year to promote full attendance and we monitor the attendance of all our pupils regularly.

We pride ourselves on the high levels of attendance of the vast majority of our pupils, recognising that there is a correlation between pupil attendance and a child’s ability to realise his full academic potential.

If a pupil’s attendance falls below the 85% threshold figure, we are then required to contact the Education Welfare Service (EWS) and notify them by means of a referral of our concerns.

Pupils who have attendance under 85% on Monday 10th March 2025 (excluding pupils with valid reasons/medical conditions where evidence has been provided to the school) will have received a letter home today (example attached).

Please ensure to address this concern asap.  We will review your son’s attendance in MAY 2025 and anticipate that it will have improved by then and have risen above 85%.

If you need any help or advice, please do not hesitate to contact the school on 02890-351032.

Yours faithfully,

K Mc Arevey      C Curran
