HCB Careers Week 2023

5th May 2023

Careers Week 2023 was once again a great success in HCB. Each year group had the opportunity to interact with and ask questions of a wide variety of visiting speakers, including Mark for Park Management at Belfast City Council, a librarian, a construction engineer, a postman, a nurse and many more. Thanks so much to all visitors that visited the school during Careers Week for their career advice. Our pupils finished the week feeling inspired and motivated for their future careers.

P1-3 also took part in a special parade! There were some spectacular costumes and great fun was had by all. We were extremely impressed by the effort put into many of the costumes!

The P4-7 pupils had an informative morning with Key Speakers Nichola Bradley and Thomas O’Neil. The lads got a little insight into Nichola and Thomas’ journeys into politics and representing their local communities. They were also treated to a morning with our very own Tony Kane (Dundela FC) and Joe Gormley (Cliftonville FC). Joe and Tony talked about their professional careers as footballers, giving the lads insight into the commitment, sacrifices and hard work needed to become a professional footballer. A great morning was had by all. The lads agreed to a friendly kicky up competition and Tony even had a go at doing the gritty!

A special thank you to Mrs McShane, who coordinated another very successful Careers Week at HCB.
