HCB Annual Book Fair – A Week to Remember!

14th Oct 2025

The HCB Annual Book Fair came to a wonderful conclusion today, and we hope that all our boys have developed an even deeper love for reading and books as a result of this exciting week.

Throughout the week, the boys engaged in a variety of creative and enriching activities:

Monday: Designed their own unique bookmarks

Tuesday: Wrote thoughtful book reviews

Wednesday: Created imaginative book jacket covers

Thursday: Completed character sketches and tackled reading puzzles

Friday: Celebrated with a prize-giving ceremony for the best bookmarks in each class!

They also had the pleasure of listening to 📚 Mrs. Reel (P1–2 & RR), 📚 Mr. Curran (P3–4 & ML) and 📚 Mr. McArevey (P5–7 & SL) read to them. Each class also enjoyed visits to explore the fantastic selection of books on offer.

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and family members who attended and supported our Book Fair. Your involvement means the world to us, and thanks to your generosity, we raised £3500. These funds will go directly towards purchasing much-needed reading resources for our boys.

We are especially grateful to all the boys and their families for the incredible bookmarks submitted this year. The standard was exceptionally high, making the judges’ job very difficult!

🎉 Congratulations to our overall winners, the runners-up, and every single participant — your creativity and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.

Finally, a huge thank you to Mrs. Reel, our Literacy Coordinator, for organising another fantastic Book Fair week. We’re already looking forward to next year!
