HCB Careers Week - An Outstanding Success!!

24th Apr 2026

The boys enjoyed a superb week as they were treated to a wide range of inspiring and interesting professionals who visited their classes to discuss different career paths and share valuable advice and tips. Once again, we welcomed an outstanding lineup of guest speakers.

On Tuesday, pupils heard from Mark Simpson (BBC News Correspondent) along with Tyrone McKenna and Tommy McCarthy (professional boxers, comedians and podcasters).

On Wednesday, Jim Magilton (Cliftonville Manager) and Paul McCusker and Ryan McCallan from the People’s Kitchen and Welcome Centre spoke powerfully about homelessness and community support.

Thursday saw visits from Belfast rapper and podcaster Liambo Slice, professional boxer and gym owner Paddy Gallagher, and Mike McGurn (Cliftonville FC Strength & Conditioning Coach).

To round off the week, Year 1, 2 and 3 pupils took part in Career Costume Day on Friday, coming to school dressed as professionals representing a career of their choice. Congratulations to the winners!

A special thanks to Mr McEvoy, who coordinated another outstanding Careers Week in HCB.
