HCB Careers Week Visit - Paul McCusker (The People’s Kitchen, Belfast) & Ryan McCallan (Simon Community)

22nd Apr 2026

The boys enjoyed a wonderful and informative visit this afternoon from past pupil Paul McCusker (The People’s Kitchen, Belfast) and Ryan McCallan (Simon Community).

Both men do exceptional work supporting people in need, including those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Their work includes providing safe places to stay, practical support and advice, hot meals and refreshments, clothing, and—just as importantly—conversation and human connection.

Ryan is also a rapper, performing under the name “Twirl”, and both visitors generously shared their personal stories and experiences with the boys. The pupils were fully engaged throughout and gained valuable insight into the realities faced by vulnerable people in our community and the positive impact that compassion and service can make.

A huge thank you to Ryan and Paul for giving up their time to visit the school and speak so openly and honestly with the boys about the amazing work they do with those who need it most.

Many thanks also to Mr McEvoy for organising Careers Week.
